چکیده

A silver-catalyzed cascade conversion of modular alkyne-1,n-diols and carbon dioxide has been developed allowing for the selective formation keto-functionalized cyclic carbonates. The protocol is characterized by its operational simplicity, excellent scope carbonate-based heterocycles, mild reaction conditions. In situ IR studies, control experiments, detailed computational analysis these manifolds reveal intermediacy an α-alkylidene carbonate that intercepted intramolecular alcohol nucleophile. synthetic potential this conceptually attractive CO2 transformation demonstrated in preparation larger ring carbonates their thermal rearrangement to sterically crowded, five-membered fused products.

Catalytic Processes for Chemical Conversion of Carbon Dioxide into Cyclic Carbonates and Polycarbonates

Chemical fixation of CO2 has received much attention because CO2 is the most inexpensive and renewable carbon resource from the viewpoint of green chemistry and atom economy. The kinetic and thermodynamic stability of CO2 molecule presents significant challenges in designing efficient chemical transformations based on this potential feedstock. Currently, cyclic carbonates and polycarbonates are...

Synthesis of Chiral Cyclic Carbonates via Kinetic Resolution of Racemic Epoxides and Carbon Dioxide

The catalytic synthesis of cyclic carbonates using carbon dioxide as a C1-building block is a highly active area of research. Here, we review the catalytic production of enantiomerically enriched cyclic carbonates via kinetic resolution of racemic epoxides catalysed by metal-containing catalyst systems.

Electrosynthesis of cyclic carbonates from epoxides and atmospheric pressure carbon dioxide.

The use of CO(2) for the preparation of value-added compounds has dramatically increased due to increased global warming concerns. We herein report an electrochemical cell containing a copper cathode and a magnesium anode that effectively converts epoxides and carbon dioxide to cyclic carbonates under mild electrochemical conditions at atmospheric pressure.

Synthesis of cyclic carbonates from epoxides and carbon dioxide using bimetallic aluminium(salen) complexes

Over the last six years, highly active catalysts for the synthesis of cyclic carbonates from epoxides and carbon dioxide have been developed. Initial studies showed that bimetallic aluminium(salen) complexes [Al(salen)]2O formed active catalysts and kinetic studies allowed the catalytic cycle to be determined. The catalysts could be immobilized on silica, allowing them to be used in a gas phase...
